Why people do it

A pump swells tissue and produces a heavy, distinctive fullness. Visually dramatic, and the effect lasts a while after the pump comes off.

Short cycles, low pressure, and stop at the first prickling.

What to watch

Release on colour, numbness or pins and needles, not on a timer. Purple, cold or dead-feeling tissue means release immediately. Short sessions with breaks — this bruises easily and blisters if pushed.
