Roll After Dark

Tying with zip ties

Close the zip tie no further than two flat fingers under it, and keep flush cutters in the same hand that holds the shears.

How it is done

Zip ties ratchet one way and cannot be loosened by any amount of goodwill — the only way out is cutting, and the tail of a tightened tie sits flush against skin where ordinary scissors cannot get under it. If they are used at all they go over a cuff or a wrapped layer rather than against bare skin, closed no further than two flat fingers, and never on anything taking load.

What goes wrong with this one

This is the one material here with no adjustment and no give at all; the cutters are not optional kit, and they live in reach rather than in a drawer.
